RHS members can get free face-to-face gardening advice from an RHS advisor from 11am – 3pm on the first Saturday of each month and every Monday from 1pm – 3.30pm from July to September. Come to the desk in the entrance conservatory with your questions. Normal garden admission.
Join Harrogate & Ripon Beekeepers at Harlow Carr’s apiary every Saturday at 2pm throughout the summer and enjoy beekeeping demonstrations from the local professionals. Normal garden admission.
1 July, 8 July, 15 July: Late Summer Evening Opening
Enjoy live music at Harlow Carr on three Friday evenings in July. Bring a picnic and blanket and settle in for the evening. Last entry 7.30pm; the garden closes at 9pm. Free to RHS members; £5 after 5pm for non-members.
5, 12, 19, 26 July: Summer Garden Tours
Join a tour of the garden starting at 11.30am and find out how Harlow Carr evolved from a Victorian Spa to an RHS garden. There is a suggested £2 donation to the Friends of Harlow Carr. Normal garden admission.
5 – 21 July: Bath House Gallery – Glass & Ceramics Showcase
The popular Glass & Ceramics Showcase makes a welcome return for 2016. Raku, slab and thrown work will all be on display as well as glass and mosaic work. If you loved the ‘The Great Pottery Throw Down’, you’ll love this. Normal garden admission.
9 – 10 July: The Sweet Pea Show
Top sweet pea growers take part in this prestigious competition which promises breathtaking displays and scents from hundreds of sweet pea blooms. The National Sweet Pea Society will be on hand to offer expert advice and surplus blooms will be on sale. Normal garden admission.
12 – 13 July: Open Air Theatre – Macbeth
Shakespeare’s dramatic story of ambition turned bad is brought vividly to life in Oddsocks’ hilarious new musical adaptation of Macbeth. Doors open at 6.30pm and performances start at 7.30pm. 16 – 17 July: Meet the Author Weekend
Head to Harlow Carr’s bookshop for the chance to chat to four very different authors about their latest works. On 16 July, ‘A Year of Cake’ author Lynn Hill and author of ‘Common Ground’ Rob Cowen will be on hand to sign copies of their books and answer questions. On 17 July, ‘Precarious Fortunes’ author Ian Townsend and creator of the D.I Yates novels Christina James will talk about the inspiration for their novels.
16 – 17 July: Linocut – rhubarb and roses

23 July – 4 September: Rocket Science Summer Family Fun
The countdown is on to six weeks of summer fun at RHS Garden Harlow Carr. Families can embark on an out-of-this-world adventure this summer in Harrogate as the northernmost RHS Garden goes intergalactic. Youngsters can take part in their very own space mission to Mars on a space-themed garden trail, enjoy stratospheric storytelling with the Garden Detectives, create cosmic crafts, and discover how our feathered friends have influenced flight and space exploration during spectacular birds-of-prey flying displays. 23 July – 4 September: Bath House Gallery – Summer Crafts Showcase
