Simon Thomas Carpentry scoops ‘Best of Trex’ at 2019 Arbordeck Awards

The 2019 Arbordeck Awards took place at FutureScape on Tuesday 19 Novemeber. Swansea-based Simon Thomas Carpentry has taken the top prize at the 2019 Arbordeck Awards, with its Bryntirion project named as ‘Best of Trex®’ thanks to its striking star design and lighting features.

Simon Thomas Carpentry’s Bryntirion project gained the attention of the judges due to the unique central star design on the 30m2 deck, completed with benches featuring under-seat lighting.

And as a result, owner and installer Simon Thomas has been awarded a money-can’t-buy trip to Washington, D.C. where he’ll be given a tour of Trex University and production facility – as well as plenty of time for some sightseeing too.

Commenting on the win, Simon Thomas said:

“I’m chuffed to have won and my customers will be delighted too – I’m going to do everything I can to win again next year! For now, I’m really excited about my trip to Washington, to go to the Trex University, which is a bit like getting a golden ticket to Willy Wonka’s Factory for me!”

This year’s Arbordeck Awards saw over 50 entries across all categories, including new category ‘Best Arbordeck Softwood Timber Deck’ – with Browns Landscape and Decking coming out on top.

As well as the Simon Thomas Carpentry’s Bryntirion deck taking the coveted prize, it was also named as the category winner for ‘Best Large Trex Deck’. JP Construction’s Brentwood deck won ‘Best Small Trex Deck’ while Manor Construction came top in the ‘Best Trex Design Solution’ category. Whalley Construction’s Ashton deck was named as the ‘Best Commercial Trex Deck’, which featured a ramp for wheelchair access and decking around roofing skylights.
