SGD unveils fellowships for Hoblyn and Lennox-Boyd

The Society of Garden Designers (SGD) has announced that Tom Hoblyn and Arabella Lennox-Boyd have been awarded fellowships in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the profession.

Lennox-Boyd FSGD, has over fifty years of experience and more than seven hundred gardens to her name worldwide.

Her achievements include six gold medals at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show and an impressive portfolio ranging from commercial projects, such as the roof garden at No. 1 Poultry in London to grand private estates across the globe.

Lennox-Boyd has been recognised for her contributions to horticulture and design with numerous accolades, including the RHS Veitch Memorial Medal and an Honorary Doctorate of Design from the University of Greenwich.

She has held prestigious positions within the RHS Woody Plants Committee, Kew Gardens, and the Chelsea Physic Gardens, amongst many others.

Meanwhile, Hoblyn FSGD is an acclaimed landscape designer, horticulturist and plantsperson and has been recognised for his innovative approach to garden design.

His career spans numerous award-winning projects, with a particular focus on the use of natural landscapes to create contemporary and sustainable gardens.

Hoblyn has earned widespread recognition for his work at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, where his gardens have consistently won critical acclaim.

His approach to garden design goes beyond aesthetics as he focuses on creating spaces that promote biodiversity, support well-being, and exist in harmony with their environments.

His recent projects include a healing garden for a children’s hospice, in collaboration with Greenfingers Charity, and rewilding schemes on the Suffolk coast, all reflecting his ‘gardens with purpose’ philosophy.

“I am truly delighted and deeply appreciative of the council’s recognition of my contributions to the SGD and garden design profession,” says Hoblyn.

“Being a member of the SGD has been instrumental in shaping my career, providing both inspiration and support throughout the years.

“This fellowship feels like a culmination of that journey, and I am proud to continue being a part of such an influential community.”

The fellowship is the SGD’s highest honour, awarded to individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the field of garden design.

Both Lennox-Boyd and Hoblyn join an exclusive group of industry leaders whose work has inspired and shaped the future of the profession.

Elsewhere, the SGD recently revealed its shortlist for its awards show early next year.
