The Children’s Society takes part in workshop ahead of RHS Chelsea
Over February half-term, a group of young creative partners, aged between 14-20 years old, took part in a creative workshop hosted by the sculpture working with Patrick Clarke’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show Garden.
Part of the charity’s youth clubs network in central Bedfordshire have had the opportunity to collaborate with Clarke to ensure their voices were listened to throughout the design process.
The Forms of Growth themed workshop began by showing the group visual inspirations from natural materials.
Cunningham is working with Clarke to create a sculpture for The Children’s Society Garden at Chelsea in May 2026.
Clarke says the workshop “p embodies the environment that The Children’s Society offer the young people they support – hope, safety and connection – in the same way that the garden I have designed for the charity will be after its relocated to their Leighton Buzzard Youth Club, giving them an extended outdoor place where they can pause, reflect and reconnect.”
Cunningham also comments:
“My vision for this workshop with The Children’s Society ‘Young Creative Partners’ was to provide them with a safe, welcoming creative space where they felt free to play, explore and express themselves. In the workshop, we explored themes of growth, resilience and nature, and it was a real joy to see their initial sketches evolve into individual clay forms.”
After the show, the garden will be relocated to the charity’s youth club in Leighton Buzzard.
