Olly Gregson, founder and director of Hardwood Landscapes, has announced he won’t be posting long-form vlogs on his
YouTube channel anymore.
Instead, Gregson explains on an Instagram post, “We are going to focus on using our media team for fantastic short form content to market our companies and keep you in the loop with what I’m doing”.
A consistent series, Gregson would take to YouTube documenting his career and business pursuits. One of these being the launch of Grab trucks, in partnership with Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM).
The trucks intend to provide waste removal and handling services, while raising money for life saving calls through the suicide prevention charity.
Gregson explains his next venture includes driving the Grab truck across the country to meet with new investors to get new software built and develop the new app.
This announcement comes as a way of reducing his own workload. He says:
“Removing things from my workload is so important if I’m going to be able to keep creating, so hopefully the decision is understood.”
Pro Landscaper 30 Under 30: The Next Generation 2024 winner, Olly Gregson also urges those who might also feel overloaded to follow in his footsteps.

Hardwood Landscapes second garden will be on Main Avenue, designed by Fernando Wong Outdoor Living Design at David Harber Sculptures trade stand.

Oliver Gregson, of Gregson Homes and Hardwood Landscapes, has been appointed to the Association of Professional Landscapers’ committee.
The official appointment came at this year’s FutureScape and comes at a time of change for the committee, with David Strows appointed chair, taking over from Holly Youde.
Gregson featured at FutureScape, taking part in the Video Stars: Turning Footage Into Financial Gain panel at the Business Theatre, alongside Marc Lane, Lucy Willcox and Marc Murray.
Speaking on his YouTube vlog, the 28-year-old says: “It threw me a little bit because I really wasn’t expecting it.
“I’m very grateful, very excited, very humbled to announce that I am now on the committee for the Association of Professional Landscapers.”
He also took a moment to reflect on what it means for his YouTube efforts and said he aims to be a voice for the younger businesses.

Gregson explains: “It feels like what we’re trying to do with these vlogs has been recognised as something that isn’t self-centred it’s genuinely for the betterment, of the wider industry and that they see the momentum that we’re carrying, and the energy and the effort that we’re putting in as something that can be translated into something that can help everyone else, which is really cool.
“It’s an opportunity that I’m going to take very seriously and work incredibly hard at and I really hope to work towards being a bit of a voice for certainly younger companies.”
He also announced the completion of an agreement to run a 2017 Volvo grab lorry.
Gregson does not believe his current yard could currently obtain an operator’s licence so the lorry will run under someone else’s licence, who he has not named, but the agreement allows Gregson to rebrand and operate it, and should it work he will then buy the lorry from the person.
Speaking outside the lorry in the vlog, Gregson says: “Largely I think it has come from a bit of a childhood dream of being a young boy, loving trucks, loving diggers, loving big things with engines.
“It’s hard to make these things work, with this particular lorry we are taking on a large element of risk. This is a start up, we are part of a new business venture and that means we have to take calculated opportunities where we can.
“If you want to know everything it takes to get these wheels turning and hopefully, one day, a bit of profit out of a grab lorry company. Stay tuned, we are going to be sharing absolutely everything.”
At their current yard they do not believe they could achieve an operator’s licence and referenced the difficulties that obtaining one leads to.
