Government funds Sussex seafront makeover
Arun District Council has delivered a new look along Littlehampton’s seafront in West Sussex to revitalise the area with modern facilities, family attraction and a sustainable design.
Developed by Neilcott Construction, ‘The West Green’ now features a water play area, climbing wall, beach volleyball courts, basketball and hammocks.
Supported by £7.23m in UK government funding, the transformation also includes sustainable planting which supports biodiversity. Some areas will be seeded in the autumn after the warm summer season.
Alex Norris, minister for local growth, says the transformation is “exactly what can be achieved when government investment is combined with local vision and community support”.
New toilets, changing places and refreshment kiosks have also been installed.
