Canary Wharf floats new proposal for natural water lido
Set to complement the recent landmark regeneration at Eden Dock, Canary Wharf is partnering with Sea Lanes to propose a new natural water lido.
The 50m long lido will have a fixed depth of 1.3m and will float in the dock, filled with naturally clear water. Cut off from the River Thames and naturally filtered, the water quality in Eden Dock is rated ‘Excellent’ by EU Bathing Standards.
Proposal plans also include saunas, a community clubhouse, restaurant and verdant planting amongst courtyard seating.
Designed, built and operated by Sea Lanes, the wellness destination will follow in the footsteps of Sea Lanes Brighton, the UK’s first National Open Water Swimming Centre.
Ross Gilbert, director at Sea Lanes, “Our vision is to bring people and nature closer together by offering a fully accessible floating freshwater pool, lifeguarded and open year-round, supported by a hub of health, wellbeing and food and beverage businesses”.
Subject to planning, Sea Lanes Canary Wharf will be open in summer 2026.
