HTA celebrates 5 years of Planet Mark certification

The Horticultural Trades Association (HTA) has announced its fifth consecutive year as a Planet Mark Certified Business.

Measuring its carbon emissions since 2020 in partnership with Planet Mark, the HTA also celebrated two years since the installation of solar panels on the roof of its office.

Between 2023 and 2024, the HTA has achieved a 14% reduction in location-based energy emissions, reflective of the solar panel installation, which have also contributed 75,000 kWh of clean energy to the HTA to date.

Liz Williams, HTA sustainability executive says, “as we progress on the journey to net zero, it is important that we measure the full inventory of our carbon footprint, as we cannot manage what we do not measure”.

Currently in Scope 2 emissions, the association looks to focus on the broader scope 3 emissions.

Starting with a business-wide session which was run by Planet Mark in June, the HTA begins a journey of exploration into its complete carbon inventory.

The HTA is committed to achieving an annual 5% reduction in scope 1 and 2 emissions while maintaining data quality standards.
