Leaf Awards celebrate two decades at FutureScape

The Leaf Awards marked its 20th anniversary with Mitie Landscapes, Shoosmiths and The Good Plant Company all walking away with awards.

The event, held on the second day of FutureScape, serves to recognise and honour the creativity, dedication and innovation of plants@work members.

All entries, except for Christmas installations, were visited by one of the plants@work panel of judges and a total of 25 outstanding projects were submitted, with many achieving a Gold Leaf Award whilst others earned silver or bronze accolades.

Shoosmiths LLP, Birmingham not only achieved Gold but a special recommendation by the judges.

“This design and installation doesn’t disappoint in reality. It is beautifully designed and executed and the mixture of plants has been perfectly chosen to compliment the environment. Specimen plants are all stunning – Monstera, Strelitzia and Philodendron Xanadu,” says judge Nicola Bristow.

“The planting in the kitchen area with Zamioculcas and Asplenium is stunning as well as replica plants suspended over eatery. Likewise the Epipremnum which trails along the floor, looks incredible. A ‘sunset garden’ with replica trees and shrubs which gives a clever English garden feel.”

Mitie Landscapes were another Gold Leaf Award recipient, Phoenix Group office. At this project, Mitie Landscapes were asked to bring two derelict planting schemes back to life in two atriums with planting designed, specified, sourced and fully refurbished within tight deadlines. They consisted of 200 square metres of planting and 1363 plants from 100 species, Including 11 feature trees at four and five metres tall.

The Good Plant Company took home a gold for their project with Raspberry Pi in Cambridge Science Park.

This stunning project featured a three-storey atrium with vertical and horizontal planting and multiple plants throughout all office and break out areas, with a plant-filled interior with many hundreds of plants creating a 360 degree immersive experience in the reception atrium.

The Leaf Award design and installation categories were sponsored by Dutch plant and container supplier, Koberg bv, while the Christmas entries were sponsored by Christmas supplier DZD, while Noviflora sponsored the Design and Installation Category £15-30k.

plants@work wish to thank all sponsors and also Futurescape for the space in which to hold the ceremony.
