Meadfleet renews partnership with Action for Swifts

Open space management company Meadfleet has renewed its partnership with conservation charity Action for Swifts.

As part of the Buzz and Flutter campaign, Meadfleet continues to support the swift, one of the UK’s rapidly declining bird species.

The bird’s population has fallen by 66% between 1995 to 2022 due to loss of nesting sites, urbanisation, insect decline and climate change.

Action for Swifts intends to reverse the decline by designing and supplying swift bricks and nesting boxes that can be integrated into new and old buildings.

Becky Ingham explains “Our partnership with Meadfleet allows us to build on the work begun during construction. We’re exploring ways to help residents monitor nesting uptake and increase awareness of these amazing birds”.

The Buzz and Flutter campaign sets out to plant 150 native oak trees, establish 5km of new native hedgerow, plant 100,000 flowering bulls and create 40,000m2 of new wildflower areas.
