ABAX lists most important machinery amidst theft increases
ABAX has identified the five most critical machines that construction firms should track and protect as theft concerns rise and recovery rates sit below 15%.
According to CPA, October often sees a rise in machinery theft due to less daylight hours as we transition into autumn and winter.
The list includes excavators, as according to ABAX, they are the “backbone of groundwork from day one,” as a typical replacement costs £25k-£40k and may take 10-12 weeks.
JCBs and attachments are important for daily workhouses whose value depends on buckets, augers and forks as ABAX encourages Bluetooth tagging which can curb loss and speed up handovers.
Dumpers and artics are central to material flow, as much as cranes are critical to safety and must be highly regulated. Crane hire can exceed £1,000 a day.
Compact track loaders can be easy to overlook, says ABAX, but are vital for tight-space finish work and should be protected also.
Pål Kamfjord, director of product management at ABAX explains “attachments are as valuable as the machines — tagging every item means you always know where it is”.
ABAX recommends starting with the machines that set the pace of the job, then expanding tracking across the fleet for a single source of truth on usage, location and maintenance.
Solutions include ABAX Worksite for machine management and ABAX Locator for tools and attachments.
