On 1 April 2013, The Landscape Group’s initial eight year grounds maintenance and horticultural services contract with Warwick District Council commenced. Following the Easter Bank Holiday weekend, the new team arrived at the Warwick depot on Tuesday 2 April, ready to receive their new uniforms and begin their induction programmes.
Assistant Operations Director for The Landscape Group, Paul Slack, comments:
“The new contract with Warwick District Council is a very exciting one for The Landscape Group. The contract covers an area filled with beauty spots, including five major parks that are of high local importance. In addition, our teams will be maintaining a number of green spaces within housing areas, along roads, roundabouts and highways ensuring that the area is kept as tidy as possible. We have an extensive fleet of new vehicles, resources and machinery at the team’s disposal to enable them to work as efficiently as possible. Local residents will now see operatives in our distinctive black and green uniforms carrying out grounds maintenance activities within the District.”
Michelle Maybury, Operations Director at The Landscape Group comments:
“I was delighted to be able to meet and personally welcome the transferring workforce on the first day of the contract. Everyone arrived with a positive attitude, ready to take on the new challenges they will face working as part of The Landscape Group team. The whole company wishes them a warm welcome and I look forward to working with them on the contract.”
Councillor David Shilton, Portfolio Holder Neighbourhood Services says:
“I am delighted that The Landscape Group is our grounds maintenance contractor. Working with us to improve and maintain our green space, they are also well aware of the work that is required to maintain the bowling greens at Victoria Park to the current high standard and given the arrival of the men’s nationals from 2014 the need to maintain those high standards.”
Looking forward, The Landscape Group will work closely with Warwick District Council to ensure that the area’s existing accreditations and facilities (including Green Flag Status of Jephson Gardens and Mill Gardens) are upheld. In addition, The Landscape Group will work with the District to develop management plans for other parks to achieve Green Flag Status. The Landscape Group has significant experience in this area, with 36 Green Flag parks within its current portfolio of sites.
