The Savills And David Harber Garden – RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2019
David Harber, will once again sponsor a Main Avenue Show Garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2019. The space is co-sponsored by global real estate services provider, Savills. Celebrated garden designer Andrew Duff MSGD created the space.
This year’s garden is a celebration of the environmental benefit and beauty of trees, plants and grass in urban spaces.
The design seeks to create a beautiful, sustainable woodland clearing in a city garden. The Environmental Change Institute endorse it. The space will showcase lots of sustainable features. This will include bio-diverse large trees, a water purifying wetland area, a green wall and permeable surfaces.
Using native planting, Andrew Duff’s design features roughly 1,000 plants. It also features 18 mature trees provided by award-winning nursery, Majestic Trees.
The colour scheme is a natural shade of green, with the introduction of soft whites and yellows to highlight key focal points. Andrew will use acid yellow to represent sunlight, adding brightness to shady areas.
Andrew has recruited several of his students to help with the planting of the garden.
A key feature of the garden is a pool of water which plays host to a sculptural installation, inspired by the surrounding woodland setting.
Designed and created by David Harber, the sculptures are
designed to play with light and create beautiful dappled patterns across the water.
Richard Rees, Managing Director, Savills UK comments:
“The ethos of Andrew Duff’s design is sustainability. This is a focus for many of our property owner and developer clients.
“The garden will showcase how urban home owners and developers can include sustainable features in their own gardens. For them to enjoy, and to deliver environmental benefits.”
