The Singapore Garden Festival Orchid Show 2020 has been cancelled due to concerns over the coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19).
This decision was made in line with the Singapore’s Minister of Health’s latest advisory on events, in which it recommends event organisers cancel or defer non-essential large-scale events.
Large-scale events are defined as events with more than 1,000 attendees. Non-essential large-scale events refer to events such as company dinner & dance, and family day events with more than 1,000 attendees.
Due to this advice, the National Parks Board (NParks) and the Orchid Society of South East Asia (OSSEA) made the decision to cancel the SGF Orchid Show 2020.
As of 24 February, Singapore has 90 confirmed cases of coronavirus with 1239 cases have tested negative, 25 pending and 53 discharged.
