International garden designer and Royal Horticultural Society gold medal winner Jo Thompson is a key note speaker at the 32nd CanWest Show.
It is Western Canada’s largest horticultural trade show with over 3,000 industry professionals visiting 300 plus booths over two days. The CanWest Hort Show has been the meeting place for buyers and sellers of British Columbia’s nursery, floriculture and landscape industry for over 30 years.
Jo will address an audience of landscape designers and landscape architects from British Columbia and the Pacific North West who are looking for new design ideas, design inspirations and to learn about trends.
“We needed to have a world class designer to headline our design symposium” explains show manager Karen De Jong-Ellery. “We are ecstatic to have Jo speak as part of our education program this year.”
Other speakers include local design favourites, landscape architect Senga Lindsay and landscape professional John Gillespie. As well as Paul Zammit, from Toronto Botanical Garden, and Jonn Karsenboom, who created the world’s largest and smallest hanging basket.
The event takes place on Wednesday 18 September and Thursday 19 September 19 between 10:00 am to 5:00 pm daily. It is held at the Vancouver Convention Centre, home to the media during the 2012 Winter Olympics, situated along Vancouver’s waterfront.
Jo’s international work includes gardens for private clients in Switzerland and Italy and show gardens for an international gardening competition in Japan. Born to an Italian father and florist mother she spent much of her childhood Rome.
